Regional conclave on climate change at Mkg today

Mokokchung, January 19 (DIPR): At the time when climate change poses a serious threat to livelihood and at the time when there is an urgent to address climate change issues collectively, a regional conclave on climate change is being organized at Mokokchung town on January 20. The conclave to be held at Tourist Lodge will be attended by leaders of North East from cross sections of society.
It is organised by the Eastern Himalayan Decentralised Resource Centre (EHRDC) of LEAD INDIA and is being attended by prominent leaders from the North Eastern States of India. Some confirmed personalities included Member of Parliament from Sikkim P.D. Rai, MLA from Arunachal Pradesh, Pasang Dorjee Sona, Opposition Leader from Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, MD of LG, Associates from Mizoram, Dr. Lalbiak Ngengte, Prof. From NEHU, Prof. Saroj Barik, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Nagaland, Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA of Nagaland, C. Apok Jamir, Additional Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Alemtemshi Jamir, Director of Census GoI, Hekali Zhimomi, Prof. from NU Prof. Lanusashi and others.
The conclave is sponsored by south Asia Regional Office of International Development Research Centre, Canada. Verma said the discussions in the conclave would focus on leadership saying leadership to address the climate change issues is the need of the hour. It will also give due importance on the impact of climate change on North Eastern region. Verma also said that the conclave will be followed by a special interactive session with Climate Change Leaders of the region who are committed to work on climate change.
