Regular train between Dibrugarh and Silchar

Maligaon, April 5 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to introduce a regular weekly express train between Dibrugarh and Silchar from April 8. The proposed new train will further strengthen the rail connectivity between Barak and Brahmaputra valley.   The new service will be jointly flagged off by Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Rajen Gohain, Minister of State of Railways from Dibrugarh in presence of other distinguished guests.   The regular service of the train will start from April 16 from Dibrugarh and from Silchar on April 17. Train number 15944 Dibrugarh – Silchar Express will leave Dibrugarh every Monday at 19-00 hrs to arrive at Silchar at 08-40 hrs on Tuesday. During return journey the 15943 Silchar – Dibrugarh Express will leave from Silchar every Tuesday at 22-15 hrs to arrive Dibrugarh at 11-20 hrs next day.   The train will have AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, Sleeper class and General Second class accommodation available. The train will have stoppages at Sibsagar Town, Simaluguri Jn, Mariani Jn, Furkating Jn, Dimapur, Lumding, New Haflong, Badarpur Jn during its journey both ways.   The inaugural special train numbered as 05944 will leave Dibrugarh at 18-00 hrs on April 8 with open timings to arrive at Silchar at 08-40 hrs next day. Similarly during return journey special train 05943 will leave from Silchar on April 9 at 19-55 hrs with open timings to arrive Dibrugarh at 10-45 hrs next day.   The inaugural programme at Dibrugarh will be relayed through video link to Silchar where people would be able to view the function live and be a part of the historic occasion.   This was stated in a press release issued by PJ Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer.
