Research work on industrial management in Nagaland

Management study in respect of the State of Nagaland is an emerging aspect of research work. Due to lack of industries in Nagaland, the due inspiration to study the field of management by the students is still in a nutshell.   In such a situation, it is high time for the State Government to initiate industrial development basing on resources like forest, agricultural products, and the natural given talents on handloom and handicrafts of the Nagas, insurances, etc where we can somehow rely on ourselves in economy towards self-reliance.

Just see, after 54 years of statehood, more than half a century gone, the State is still unable to bring out a clear economic policy vis-à-vis industrial initiative to start for revolutionising the economy of the state. It is unimaginable to keep on depending only on Central Government to run the affairs of the state. The state is not able to stand on its own feet so far. This is not a viable position on the part of the state government, a close ally observed. This is how the new generation will not be able to have hope on the state government for their future development. In such circumstances, educated unemployment is alarmingly rising up but no provision for job creation is viable, the discourse concluded.

Just recently, Chikhosale Thingo obtained her Ph.D degree in Tezpur University, the study topic on “MSMEs in Nagaland: A Critical Study into their Problems and Prospects” under the supervision and guidance of Professor Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar in the Department of Business Administration. This may be one of the first research degrees in the field of Management if not the first among the Nagas, the statement said. The study on “Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with their Problems and Prospects” is appropriate in respect of nascent economy of Nagaland. It is a certainty that the new generation has to struggle hard for their existence in absence of favourable facilities. The new generation must venture to take up enterprises in order to ameliorate the societal hardship of environment, the statement added. Thingo’s industrial management study throws new light which is relevant for the state of Nagaland to start with, it added.
