Retaining wall collapse kills one in Senapati

Newmai News Network Senapati |  September  20   One person was killed when a retaining wall collapsed at Poulea Council area in Senapati today. The deceased have been identified as one Thaizii, 50 years. The incident happened around 4 PM in the evening.     According to reports, while the victim was cleaning drainage besides his kitchen, half of the retaining wall felt on him killing him instantly. Reports said that due to incessant rains the whole day, a landslide started to occur behind the victim's house which led to the collapse of the retaining wall.   Neighbours rushed to the spot to rescue him but to no avail. The people somehow recovered the victim's body around 4.30 pm.   Officials of the district administration including  deputy commissioner, Athem Muivah and ADC members visited the spot and have extended assistance to the  victim’s family.
