A right dose: Towards a healthier learning

Health awareness Camp held at Immanuel College

With the objective that a healthy lifestyle is crucial for learning as well as physical well-being, a health awareness camp was held here today at Immanuel College, Lengrijan Dimapur.  

An initiative of the B.Sc 5th Semester students of Zoology Department, the students under the supervision of their instructors, undertake various health test, mainly related to prevalent lifestyle ailments, during the camp. A total of 114 people, including faculties and staff, and students were tested during same.  

Free check-ups and test for blood pressure as well as blood groups were also done during the camp. Besides, the students and faculties also avail the services of knowing their body mass index (BMI) and ascertaining their blood sugar level.

 Apart from undertaking the test, a pamphlet on various health issues related to the test conducted at the camp was distributed to the participants and others.  

On blood group, the participants were educated on what type of blood one can give or receive from others.  

They were also educated about BMI, and tip to maintain a healthy index. On blood pressure, it deals with issues such as hypotension (LBP) and Hypertension (LBP), by explaining its possible symptoms, effects, and remedies.  

Besides, the participants were given information on the different level of sugar level and remedies and diet to follow for different glucose level. It also included a blood sugar chart.  

The camp is a part of the annual semester activities of the College’s Zoology department.
