Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju on Saturday wound up his campaign trail in Nagaland and flew to Meghalaya after addressing the media at Niathu Resort, Dimapur in the morning.

Rijiju who travelled through various nook and corner of the State said the tour was one of the most vibrant and intrusive election campaigns for BJP in the history of Nagaland and exuded confidence about positive result for the party. He maintained that the malicious campaign by Congress and other parties against the BJP from religious angle was discarded by the people. “Nagaland will remain to be governed by Naga people and there is no question of imposing other faith on the people,” Rijiju added.

He further said the party wanted to provide security, stability, peace, progress and prosperity for Nagaland. “Whatever assurances and commitments the PM Modi made in Tuensang will be fulfilled,” he assured. Rijiju noted that a Special Action Plan will be worked out to implement the party manifesto.

Responding to queries from the media about the party withdrawing from the resolve on ‘Solution before elections,’ Rijiju said it was done so “since BJP is the only party that can solve the Naga political issue.” The Naga issue, he stated, would be resolved soon and the government would implement the Naga Accord once it was finalized. This election would define the Naga politics and future of Nagaland, the Minister added.

Meanwhile, Rijiju said the Naga people were advanced yet their State was backward and that it needed to be supplemented with effective governance.

Responding to issues about the threat by NPF to snap ties with BJP in Manipur, he said the NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie and Chief Minister TR Zeliang were speaking on different lines and there was no stated position of the NPF.

BJP National General Secretary (Org), Ram Lal, State BJP President, Visasolie Lhoungu and other party workers also attended the press conference.
