Rio for strengthening ties with Korea

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): India Culture Festival and Korea-India Handshake Concert were held on September 1-2, 2016 in Korea. The cultural team from India was led by the renowned maestro of Indian classical music and Grammy Award winner Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhatt.

Speaking at the India Culture Festival on September 2, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio expressed confidence that events like these will go a long way in strengthening the strong ties and trusted bonds between the people of Korea and India.

The friendly relations between the Republic of Korea and India go back a long way, as the people of both the countries have always shared a close bond for a long period. I am confident that this cultural festival, especially the Handshake Concert, will further strengthen ties and bring the people of two great nations, both of which have our foundations built on democracy, freedom of speech and respect for human rights, closer together,” he stated.

At a time when the world is struggling against violence and polarization, he opined, the beautiful and finer aspects of life which are found in one’s culture and heritage should be strengthened and nurtured to create better understanding and appreciation of different people across various countries in order to foster global peace.

He also invited cultural ambassadors and artists from Korea to visit India and Nagaland to share the rich aspects of their culture and heritage with the people and “together we can be partners in promoting understanding, friendship and oneness.”

Rio further wished the Asia Culture Centre and the Rattle & Hum Music Society all success in their future endeavors, while congratulating them on their initiative in promoting friendship through music and culture.
