Rio talks with Union Ministers on roads, railway

New Delhi, June 13 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with his cabinet colleagues met Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal respectively on June 13 in New Delhi.

 

In his meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Rio apprised of the State road condition and the ongoing road project in the state. He also appealed the Union Minister for more roads to be included in National Highways (NH) in the State and top priority roads across Nagaland, stated a press release from New Delhi’s Nagaland House PRO (IPR), Kuolie Mere.

 

The Union Minister, according to the release, assured to declare more NH roads in the State. He also asked the State to expedite the ongoing projects and also submit the list of important roads in the State. The Union Minister will be visiting Nagaland soon to see the ongoing road projects in the State, the release informed.

 

During the meeting with Union Minster for Railways Piyush Goyal, the delegation discussed the ongoing railway project in the State. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance and benefit of railway connectivity in different parts of the State. He also requested the Union Minister for more stoppage time of Rajdhani Express and other trains passing through the Dimapur station for the interest of Nagaland and neighbouring state which depend on Dimapur station.

 

Goyal assured that he will fully support and look into all the matters raised by the Chief Minister, the release said. Further, he stated the dreams of railways connectivity in all parts of the North East region will soon see the light of the day.
