Road safety programme held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, August 4 (MExN): The Motor Vehicles Department, Govt. of Nagaland organized a programme on road safety awareness at Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung.  

The programme is an initiative of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASTRU).  

The programme was held on the theme “Time for Action”, where Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung was the chief guest. Patel, while addressing the audience, appealed the citizens to be vigilant and to follow traffic rules.  

The resource persons for the programme were Bendangnukshi Longkumer and Yanren Ngullie, Addl. SP, Mokokchung. Bendangnukshi spoke on “Road Safety (Awareness and responsibilities of a citizen)”, while Yanren Ngullie educated the citizens on “Traffic Laws (Operation and Management)”.  

The keynote address was given by Elias T. Lotha, Transport Commissioner, Nagaland, Kohima. The Road safety awareness programme is a year-long programme launched in December 2016 and will culminate in December 2017.
