Rupin Sharma IPS is Nagaland’s new DGP

Kohima, November 23 (MExN): The Director General of Prisons and HG/CD, Rupin Sharma IPS has been appointed as Director-General of Police (DGP). He is allowed to hold the current charge of DGP Nagaland with effect from November 24, stated a notification signed by Home Commissioner Abhishek Singh today. Sharma will succeed LL Doungel, IPS, who assumed office on November 26, 2014 on a deputation from West Bengal. Doungel, whose retirement is due on February 2018, had been on deputation to Nagaland (his home state) since 2014. Doungel, when contacted, said that he joined from the West Bengal Cadre on deputation to Nagaland for a period of 3 years in November 2014. The deputation period expires on November 26 and he will go back to join the West Bengal Cadre, he said. (Updated November 24, 2017)
