Rusoma Village- health care through community participation

Kohima, November 16 (MExN): Rüsoma Village Health Sub Centre Management Committee (HSCMC), observed a day of appreciation for ‘Good Mother’ on November 16 at the vicinity of Rüsoma Sub-Centre.  

Addressing the mothers, villagers and village leaders present, Dr. Vizolie Soukhrie, State Project Director, Nagaland Health Project (NHP)- World Bank and Director (H), DoH&FW, stressed on the importance of a healthy mother and baby which will ultimately result in a healthy family and society.  

He appreciated the efforts, involvement and support rendered towards the Department of Health & Family Welfare by the villagers especially in taking ownership of the Health Sector in the village and further appealed them in strengthening their dedication towards betterment of the health of the villagers so that, they achieve 100% full ANC, full immunization and Institutional Delivery.  

Dr. Vizolie also highlighted on some of the support which will be given through NHP, DoH&FW i.e. construction of Labour room, Solar lights, Waste Management, Rain water harvesting system etc.  

Chairing the program, Kethoselie Zhale, Chairman, HSCMC mentioned that, whatever fund consignments that was received from the Department were and will be judiciously utilized and also appealed the Department for their continued support.  

Chubala Pongen, Sr. Program Manager, Community Process (NHM), who was also present during the program too called upon the villagers especially the men folks to lend support towards the different programs implemented by the Department of Health particularly when it comes to issues pertaining to Mother and child.  

The prize based on Ante Natal Care (ANC) Check- up went to Neirienuo, the prize for Institutional Delivery was given to Khrietseinuo and five prizes were given based on Full Immunization who were Vitseilieü, Peteneinuo, Maream, Rüülhoubeiü and Keneingu-ü.  

DoH&FW in a press note stated that over the years, villagers of Rüsoma under, Kohima have actively been involved in the betterment of the Health in the village. Apart from all the activities and individual donations towards the Sub Centre, one key innovation that they have implemented is organizing year wise thematic programme in the village. The year 2018 was year of good mother/safe motherhood and 2019 will be year of Elderly which will cover elderly people of 75 years and above in the village. Prior to this, they have also observed year of Newborn Care, year of Children (0-5 yrs), Eradicating Malaria, of Sanitation, of Healthy Lifestyle etc.  

Along with the programme, District level World Diabetic Day was also observed where villagers were screened for their Blood Pressure and Sugar. A prayer of blessing was said by Pastor Zhietshüte Lasushe and vote of thanks delivered by. Lhouvinyü Terhase, Head Gaon Bora, Rüsoma Village.
