Sakhi-One Stop Centre and MSK schemes highlighted

Mon, May 18 (MExN): The first District Level Consultative meeting on Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) was held at Deputy Commissioner Office Conference Hall under the chairmanship of DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS on May 10.

A DIPR report stated that Nodal Officers from Departments of Police, Health & Family Welfare and from the District Legal Services Authority for Sakhi-One Stop Centre attended the meeting.

Centre Administrator, OSC Mon, Lily Konyak while giving a brief introduction on OSC stated that it is a scheme for integrated response for women affected by abuse and violence of all kinds. While highlighting on the aims and objectives, target group and the services provided by the OSC she also stated that it is an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. The OSC team also informed the house about the location of the OSC for Mon District and that women seeking help and assistance can contact the number of the OSC team.

Women Welfare Officer MSK, Ashom Konyak spoke in detail on MSK scheme, its objective and the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders. She further added that one of the primary objectives of MSK is to provide opportunities to the rural women by linking them to Government Schemes and Programmes. MSK also gives a foothold to women empowerment schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP).
