The Salesians of Dimapur Province held a welcome programme in honour of Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on September 11.


Addressing the gathering, Rev Fr. Artime expressed happiness to be in the midst of young people adding “I carry you in my heart.” Rev Fr. Artime who is the 10th successor of Don Bosco said Salesians were born to be with the young people and tries their best to do anything for the welfare of the youngsters. He said educating people brings a huge amount of joy to the Salesians.


Rev. Fr. Artime who is also the head of Don Bosco institutes worldwide was appreciative of the richness of cultural diversity in the state and the country and urged people to be proud of this aspect. He thanked the teachers for rendering their valuable services to the society adding “what you are doing is much more than simple ordinary work.”


Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol who also addressed the gathering expressed gratitude to the Salesians for educating young minds and producing knowledgeable people in the state and other parts of northeast region.


Bishop James Thopil, Bishop of Kohima also addressed the gathering.


Various cultural performances were presented by Tinsukia Parish, Don Bosco College, Itanagar, Mary Immaculate Parish, Imphal and Don Bosco Colleges of Kohima, Golaghat and Maram.
