SAPO affirms to protect wildlife and forest’
DFO Kohima, SAPO officials and village community during awareness programme at Kigwema.


Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): Awareness cum community consultation programme on Wildlife and Forest Conservation was organized by Kohima Forest Division in collaboration with Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) on October 6 at Kigwema village.


The programme was organized for the villages under SAPO as a part of the week long observance of Wild Life Week 2017. During the programme Rongsenlemla Imchen IFS, DFO Kohima who chaired the function appreciated the community for cooperating with the department and highlighted the importance of concerted efforts of all sections of the community for wild life and forest conservation. She also stressed on the issues relating to forest fire and its prevention.


SAPO, president, Dr. Neketu Kiso in his address acknowledge the department for the initiatives taken in raising environmental awareness in the region and assured that SAPO reaffirm its commitment to protect and conserve the environment. Those who spoke on the occasion were Village Council Chairman of Kigwema and Jakhama, Rokoviko Chale, Chairman, KBDCC and Keneikrol, Ranger.


Lhinghoikim Touthang IFS, DCF also attended the function. Zhavi Kire, Paster Kigwema Baptist Church said the invocation while vote of thanks was proposed by Mezhuvo-o Thorie, Secretary SASA. The programme was attended by Forest department officials, SAPO officials, and village councils, local functionaries of the villages, Student unions, women society and church workers.
