The Agriculture Education Day is observed on December 3 celebrating the birthday of India’s first Agriculture Minister (1946) and President Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

By this initiative, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) aims to develop interest in agriculture and allied sciences among the school and college students and to choose 'agriculture' as their professional & research career or engage themselves in farming as “agri-entrepreneurs” or “agripreneurs”.

It is envisaged that students would be sensitized on the importance of agriculture and allied subjects for ensuring food and nutritional security of the people and livelihood security of the farmers, apart from contributing to the national GDP.
