Kisama, December 2 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) led by its President, Zakieleto Tsükrü and Action Committee Convenor, Lhoulekho Mejura during the surprise checking on December 2 in the stalls at Kisama Hornbill festival has seized large quantity of banned items such as transparent plastic packaging, water bottles, juice bottles including tetra packs, gutka, talab, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) etc in spite of an order issued on banning of these items.
President SAYO stated that the organisation took initiative to make Hornbill festival 2019, a Plastic free and Zero waste festival in line of the Government's standing order on banning of plastic use. He further said that the organisation will leave no stone unturned in carrying out surprise checking in and around Kisama throughout the festival. Therefore, he asked the visitors and the stall owners to strictly comply with the order and extend cooperation to SAYO in order to make Hornbill festival 2019 free from plastic as well as Zero waste festival.
The defaulter(s) shall be penalized as per the law of the organisation, he added.
