Sazo kick starts 5th Swagath Chizami Cup

The 5th Swagath Chizami Cup 2014 kicked started today with Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Chotisuh Sazo as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Sazo expressed his happiness to see the younger generation coming up in the field of games and sports.

In this, he encouraged them to take up sports professionally. He encouraged the youth to focus on whatever discipline they are good at and do well at it. “We can also achieve what others can achieve in the international arena,” the speaker said. Altogether, 13 teams from different parts of the state are taking part in this 5th edition which will go on till April 26.

Earlier, a keynote address was delivered by Life Sports director Colo Mero, while welcome address was delivered by Kewepelo Tsühah, Chairman Chizami Village Council. The inaugural function was chaired by Wedete Tsühah, Chairman Organizing Committee.

The champion will pocket a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 while runners up will pocket Rs 80,000. Third prize amounting to Rs 25,000 is sponsored by Zynerique, Kohima while the fourth place Rs 15,000 sponsored by Tribal Group Kohima.

Quarter finalists will carry Rs 6000 each sponsored by Touch Enterprise, Kohima, Seikho Thomsong, and Pfukiya Kath, while prize money for golden glove, golden boot, golden ball and most promising player is sponsored by Rozelle Mero, Dr Kewe Lohe, Akupe Tsühah, and Pupetso Wezah, respectively. Organized by Life Sports Nagaland, Chizami Cup is a registered tournament of Nagaland Football Association.

Chizami Cup seeks to transform the youth and community through developing football in Nagaland with special focus on rural areas since 2010. The 2014 Chizami Cup is named the Swagath Chizami Cup as the competition is being sponsored by the Swagath Company (A leading plastic furniture company based in Kolkata).
