Scholarship conundrum: NUSU (L) express anguish

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 17 (MExN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami (NUSU L) organized a mass candlelight protest on November 16 demonstrating their resentment towards the government of Nagaland and Higher Education Department over the issue of students’ scholarship. The students’ community demanded the immediate disbursement of their remaining scholarship within one week from this date.

A press note from the union lamented that the “government stooped so low even to the extent of extracting from the students’ scholarship and giving ridiculous excuses.” “For the first time in the history of Nagaland, this government is giving scholarship on installment basis, on what logic? This is pathetic,” it added.

The NUSU (L) cautioned that failure on the part of the government would lead to further course of action. It urged the student community including the higher secondary, colleges and post graduate students to get ready for protest. The union meanwhile also sought intervention of the Governor in the issue.
