Why are scholarships being given out on installment basis?

ENCSU asks government to clarify

Tuensang, October 11 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the Department of Higher Education to clarify the reason for release of scholarship on an installment basis for the year 2016-2017.

In a press release from ENCSU General Secretary, Wangnei C. Jessuhu and Joint Secretary, Apen Tangshang, the ENCSU expressed concern for the students’ community and their career because such a basis of releasing scholarships is creating “confusion to students.”

This is the first time that an “installment system of scholarship” is being introduced in Nagaland, maintained the ENCSU.

Moreover, it maintained that just half the amount cannot be utilized for completing any category of work or fulfill necessary needs.

Wondering if this is a central policy, the ENCSU asked the department to notify the reasons for the release of scholarships on an installment basis to the students of Nagaland State.

The ENCSU urged the State Government and the Department of Higher Education to provide the reason “as soon as possible for the welfare of students community in Nagaland.”

It also appealed to the Department of Higher Education to release the scholarship in full amount.

It further appealed to “all the Eastern Students in particular and Naga in general” to not accept scholarship amounts “until and unless we meet the solution from the Department.”
