A school headmaster in Tuensang was arrested on the charge of sexual assault. The accused was arrested after the Tuensang police received a complaint from the parents of four students, all minors, from the school where he was said to be the headmaster.
The Tuensang police, while confirming the arrest, informed that the FIR was received on September 19 based on which the accused was arrested. A Tuensang police official informed that the accused was in judicial custody and further legal proceedings were on. Further details of the case were awaited.
Meanwhile, the Changsao Thangjam Setshang (Chang Women Organization) has condemned the alleged sexual assault in Tuensang on September 19. “Sexual assault to minors is a serious crime against humanity which will affect their psychological and mental well-being,” the organisation said, while stating that crime against children should be dealt in a serious manner so that no such cases arise in the future.
It claimed that the September 19 complaint was not the first against the same accused. It urged all right thinking citizens to condemn such acts, and asked the law enforcing authorities to book the culprit as per relevant sections of law without leniency.
