Science Seminars held in Tuensang, Peren

Tuensang, August 25 (MExN): The District Level Science Seminar organised by the School Education Department was held at GHSS Tuensang auditorium on August 24. Held under the theme "Pulses for sustainable food security: prospect and challenges”, the seminar was attended by 16 schools.  

The resource person of the seminar was Tokiho Achumi, Scientist, KVK Tuensang. He emphasized on how India, a famine rooted state in 1960s, attained food security with the introduction of Green Revolution. He further shared on how food sustainability can be achieved in the ever increasing population nation like India. On the UN adopting the theme “The international year of pulses", he elaborated why pulses are noted as important and how it helps in regenerating the degraded soil condition.  

Shamina Begum Tapadar of Akum Imlong School secured the first position in the competition, while Chumie Shiu K of GHSS Thangjam and Thangpong Lamthiu of Elavya Model Residential School were placed in the second and third positions respectively.  

In Peren, the District Level Students’ Science Seminar 2016 under the District was held on Wednesday at the Town Hall, Peren with Dr. Zieleigai Ndang, SDAO Tening as the resource person. 

Altogether, 15 participants from different schools participated in the Seminar which was held on the topic “Pulses for sustainable food security: Prospects and challenges”.  

Keyichitube of Baptist High School Peren was awarded the winner while Kehecidaule Putlang of GHS Mbaulwa and Ngaugiale of GHSS Peren emerged second and third respectively, a press release from the office of the District Education Officer informed.
