SD Jain celebrates silver jubilee

Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): One of the premier colleges in the state, S.D. Jain Girls’ College, Dimapur celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Friday, January 19 in the college premises at Jain Temple Road.  

Having lit the ceremonial lamp, Chief Guest Limasunep Jamir, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, extended greetings and congratulated the S.D. Jain Samaj and the College Management for their contribution towards women empowerment through formal education in the state.  

He also exhorted the students and alumni of the college to learn from its rich cosmopolitan culture and the tradition of mutual co-existence of communities and prepare themselves to compete and succeed in the job market. The Chief Guest also released the Silver Jubilee souvenir cum Annual Magazine of the College, “Jyotsna”.  

Among others, the Secretary of the college managing committee Kishore Kashliwal and Advisor Anil Tongya appreciated their predecessors and thanked the students, parents, guests and invitees for showering their love on the college.  

Principal of the College, K.C. Rout while speaking on the occasion thanked the founding fathers of the college and added that with completion of the 25 years of existence comes further responsibility to live up to the expectations and show maturity to deliver on the commitments. Dr. Dalia Bhattacharjee and Tanushree Jain spoke on behalf of the faculty and the Alumni respectively.  

Various dance and song performances were presented by the students and the alumni. “Fragrance of Nagaland” was the highlight of the event showcasing the traditional outfits of the major tribes of Nagaland.  

General Secretary of the Students Council of the college, Nitumoni Gogoi greeted the audience and invited all of them to attend the Fresher’s Social on January 20.  

Bahgchand Sethi, Joint Secretary of the managing committee thanked the Chief Guest and all other speakers, the media, invitees, students and alumni and all others present.
