SD Jain Higher Secondary School honours State toppers

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): SD Jain Higher Secondary School, one of the oldest private schools in Nagaland, organized a ceremony to felicitate the five State toppers of the school in the HSLC & HSSLC Examination 2018 on June 2 at the school auditorium here.  

KT Sukhalu, MLA and Advisor School Education, Nagaland was the special invitee. He congratulated all the toppers for their meritorious achievement and also the school authorities, particularly the School Managing Committee, for their self sacrifice and dedication to ensure that the students of the school get the best of education possible.  

Giving insight into the status of result produced by the government schools, he lamented that government schools’ result in the board examination continues to be very poor, stated a press release issued by the school principal Reji Abraham.  

Sukhalu noted that his department has highly qualified teachers yet results are poor. He called upon the youth of Nagaland to undergo professional training before seeking teaching job. The untrained teachers in the department will lose their job if they are not trained by March 2019 as per the directives of the HRD ministry, it was highlighted.  

The MLA further encouraged the students to study not just for the sake of studying, but to become something in future. He appreciated the school authorities for encouraging the meritorious students with scholarships and cash rewards and also assured that he will find a way to felicitate all the State toppers with financial incentives or other forms of encouragement by his department from next year.  

The press release informed that HSLC 4th Rank holder Anjali Kumari and 6th Rank holder Kamal Basumatary were awarded with Rs. 50,000 cash. 16th Rank holder Rohan Biswas was given Rs. 5,000 cash and scholarship worth Rs. 37,000. They were also given memento, citation certificate and a Sony tab each.  

Meanwhile, HSSLC Commerce stream 2nd Rank holder Reha Das and Science stream 10th Rank holder Sohail Khan were awarded with Rs. 10,000 cash, citation certificate and memento.  

Om Praksh Sethi, president, Jain Samaj expressed happiness over the good result produced by the school under the stewardship of the School Managing Committee, principal, and the teaching staff of the school, according to the release.  

Ajay Sethi, Secretary, School Managing Committee, who spoke on the occasion, congratulated the rank holders and their parents for their achievement. The school management, he assured, will continue to work towards achieving further excellence in the performance of the school and will do everything possible to motivate and encourage student achievers.
