Police frisking people at Moirangkhom and Hatta areas in Imphal West district on Monday morning.

Ahead of Republic Day celebration, the State administration has enhanced security measures in the state capital Imphal in the past few days. Frisking exercise has been increased carried out by the Manipur police in various locations of Imphal.
On Monday, a house to house search operation was conducted by Imphal West district police. The team of the police led by Rojit Irom, DSP (CDO)/IW, under the supervision of l Madhunimai, Additional SP (OPS)/IW conducted the house to house search operation at Moirangkhom bazaar and Loklaobung Bokulmakhong, in Imphal West district from 5:45 am to 6:50 am.
According to the police, around 80 houses were searched in today's operation and all together 270 people were verified. However, no one was picked up by the police.
Imphal East police team too conducted a similar search operation at Hatta Golapati area this morning. In the operation, about 87 females and 280 males were verified. Some persons were picked up by the police for further verification, the police said.
It can be noted here that few explosions had occurred in the heart of Imphal some days ago.
