Wokha, November 21 (MExN): Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), the Wokha District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Wokha Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS organized an event at Suren Anganwadi centre on November 21, with a view to spread awareness to safe and educate girl child and to promote them.
It was held in collaboration with the District Welfare Department and organized skill development training programme at Midland colony, New colony and Suren colony Anganwadi centre, Wokha town.
The programme focused on imparting training on livelihood opportunities to the adolescent girls. DC, Wokha and CDPO, Wokha Soren also briefed the gathering about the importance of a girl child. The aim of organizing such events was to motivate and promote the girl child, stated a press release from DIPR. Sanitary kits were distributed to the participants.
Various sensitization and awareness programmes involving the Lotha Eloe Hoho(LEH) will be conducted in all the Blocks/Areas under the district. LEH along with Social Welfare and Medical Department will be organizing workshop at Wozhuro on November 22. During the programme, identified beneficiaries will be distributed dietary supplements to augment the health of pregnant lactating mothers and for the newly married couples. Such programmes will be carried in all block and ranges in the coming days, added the release. The DC further appealed to all concerned to gear up for the success of the programme.
