SET-NU organizes 12th fresher’s meet

Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): The School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Nagaland University organized its 12th Fresher’s meet on September 7 at Town Hall, Dimapur.


A press release issue by SET stated that on the occasion, special invitee, Er Petehetuo Miasalhou, Principal of Nagaland Tool-Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur opined that educated people should contribute and think about the society. 


“You study technology and today’s world is so powerful because of development in technology like internet of things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing,” he said.


He encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs through start-up India initiative of the central government.


NTTC and NU-SET should collaborate to provide machinery and tools to engineering students to solving various problems faced by people in our locality, Miasalhou opined, while acknowledging the effort of Professor Krishnamoorthy Kannan, former Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University for helping set up and start first technical institute in Nagaland in 2007. 


Professor SK Sharma, Dean NU-SET encouraged the newly admitted 90 students to work hard and have a positive attitude. He acknowledged the faculties for their dedication in imparting quality education.


Further stating that students are the future of the school and nation, Sharma held that the one’s sincerity and honesty “always helps you to become a good and responsible human being.” Jesse K Awomi and Ankita Chakraborty was crowned Mister and Miss Freshers 2019.
