Settlement of Indo-Naga Talk

Reverend L Suohie Mhasi

The Framework Agreement which was said to have been signed on August 3, 2015 is recognition of the uniqueness of the Naga political situation and history. If so, it is recognition of the Memorandum of the Naga elders submitted to the Simon Commission in 1929 and the Naga Plebiscite in 1951. If the Memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission and the Plebiscite are recognised, separate Naga entity is recognised. If separate entity of the Nagas is recognised, having own flag and constitution is not another issue to be taken up but it is already inclusive in the recognition of the separate entity of the Nagas. There is no ambiguity. Besides this, sharing sovereignty is to be worked out in the best interest of both sides.

The movement of the Nagas for their nationhood is not a rebellion or insurgency against India or any State but this is their aspiration to live together as a fraternal nationhood under the same roof of entity. So on the part of the Nagas, it should be a movement with the fear of God and it should not be regarded as hostility by any one.
