SJC (Autonomous) celebrates first ever ‘Historia Fest’

Pete Lasushe and Yanthunglo Kikon bagged the first- ever Mister and Miss Historia 2019 at the SJC’s Historia Fest 2019’.

 

Department of History, St Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama celebrated its first ever ‘Historia Fest 2019’ on September 28.


The event was vibrant and exuberant with students dressed up in Indian, European, Chinese and African costumes. Welcome address was given by Nenjilo Magh, President, Department of History.


Head of Department Nzano Kikon, during her speech, expressed gratitude to all for the collective efforts made by the department for the event.


She encouraged the students to enliven their identity by knowing about their past and being uprooted and conscious about history. 


Jibin Abraham, Artist and Researcher, gave a presentation on the importance of museum, stressing on 'reconstructing the past' which will provide opportunities for the scholars in the field of research to find the 'missing ones.' 


Pete Lasushe and Yanthunglo Kikon bagged the first ever Mister and Miss Historia 2019. To unleash the ingenuity of the students, drama competition based on Naga folklores were presented wherein, the students of 1st Semester Sec F bagged the first position under the title 'The Girl Who Became The Hornbill' and the second position by the students of 5th Semester Sec E on 'Ancient Practices Of Headhunting.' 


A scholastic cosplay competition based on different historical figures was presented by each class. Alemla L dressed as "Rani Lakshmi Bai'' and Mhathung P Khenchung as "Bal Gangadhar Tilak" won the first and the second position respectively. 


In a concluding remark, Aorenla Jamir, cultural secretary, congratulated everyone for their leadership and unity and holding the torch together for a brighter future.
