SJC Jakhama welcomes MA students

The under-graduates students of St. Joseph’s College (SJC), Jakhama organized a Freshers’ day programme to welcome the MA students joining the department of English on September 11.

The college said in a press release that it was attended by the management, teachers, and students of the department. Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousseparampil, Principal, SJC said that it was his joy to see the day, a fulfillment of a long-envisioned project, though there had been problems and obstacles to get PG programmes running in the college.

Earlier, the event started with an invocation by Fr. Dr. Joy Thomas and a welcome song by the 3rd Semester ‘D’. Speech on behalf of the UG students was delivered by Pewe-u Tunyi, President of the department while the 1st Sem ‘C’ presented a special number. Other highlights of the day included a dance performance from Teresa and Co; speech by James HK, HoD, English Department; and the introduction of the Freshers as well as their special item. It ended with a vote of thanks from the MA Class Representative. The programme was hosted by Atsungba and Yapangmenla, the release added.
