Skill training for unemployed youth

Dimapur, August 22 (MExN): Skill training for unemployed youth batch 22 was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre on August 21.  

Rev. Aheto Sema, Secretary, Department of Youth Ministry WSBAK graced the occasion as the chief guest. He highlighted two major issues that young people face: one, attitude problem the young people suffer from and the other is lack of information on skill training. Young people need to be trained to cultivate right attitude towards work.  

Father C.T Varghese, Rector of Don Bosco Dimapur reminded the trainees that “you need something beautiful in life. During this short term training apart from your skill training you need value of honesty, value of hard work, value of integrity, value of appreciation, value of respect in the society to move on. Try to learn these values and grow with it.”  

Esther Lakra, MIS Don Bosco Tech Dimapur region shared on the work of Don Bosco Tech in India and in Dimapur region. “The Salesian province of Dimapur comprising of the States of Assam (Upper), Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh will train 35000 youth from rural areas by 2022”, she informed the gathering. She further added that as on date Don Bosco Tech in Dimapur region has trained 9636 young people and gave placement to 6932 of them.  

A press note added that batch 22 of skill training for unemployed youth of Nagaland started on July 24 with 86 trainees from 13 different tribes of Northeast. Training is imparted in domains such as hospitality – food and beverage service, hospitality – hairdressing and hospitality – beauty and wellness.
