DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 4 (MExN): Ahead of a verification drive to check for illegal immigrants in Zunheboto district, the Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK) held a meeting with non Naga community officials on November 4 at SKK Office, Zunheboto.
It may be mentioned that the SKK had issued an ultimatum on October 2 for all the illegal non Naga communities residing within Zunheboto district to leave the district on or before November 2. A press note from the SKK informed that during the November 4 meeting, the non Naga community leaders “fully expressed their assurance to cooperate in the drive process.”
“The non Naga community leaders resolved to submit the names with details along with the photographs of all the legal Indian residents of the district, sub division wise, on November 15 to the office of the SKK,” the press note informed. It further directed non Nagas residing in various parts of the district to submit the details to their respective communities so as to avoid complications.
After the submission of the list, the SKK along with its units, volunteers and the law enforcing agencies shall start the verification drive in full swing, the SKK said. Meanwhile, the SKK informed that “non Nagas hailing from Karimganj, Silchar and Nagaon districts of Assam, even if holding a genuine Inner Line Permit (ILP), shall have to produce certified true copy of residential proof from the competent authority and certified true copy of police verification of antecedents and character from their respective districts.”
Meanwhile, it stated that “on the genuine request of the Muslim community leaders, the certification from the respective districts is extended till December 31.”
