Inaugurates Angphang Model Village- ‘Tiger of the East’

 

Mon, November 28 (MExN): “Naga political settlement is a Nagas agenda and solution is more important than Election for the Nagas,” Imkong L Imchen, Minister for Health & Family Welfare today stated while stating, “If the talks between the GOI and NNPGs are in final stage and ready for solution, the present government is ready to pave way for the solution in the interest for the Nagas.”

 

Imkong L Imchen was speaking on the occasion as chief guest during the inauguration of Angphang Model Village under Mon District on November 28.

 

He also mentioned that, the entire Nagas should pray for repentance and ask God forgiveness for the innocent blood shed while searching for solution. “Many decades had passed and many had given their life for Naga settlement and now we need a consensus for this early solution,” he added.

 

According to a press release received here the Minister lauded the successful implementation of this Model village project and appreciates the villagers, VDB and Village Council for proper management and people’s participation in which this had been achieved. “Angphang is a legendary village and this village is rightly called the ‘Tiger of the East’,” he added.

 

S. Pangnyu Phom, Advisor DUDA and NEPED who was the guest of honour said that Angphang Village should be a model village for the entire block as well as Mon district. As the name model village, the villagers should also be a role model in personality, discipline and work harder. The government is giving development to all the villages in Nagaland but only few villages could implementing and utilize properly and Angphang is among this few villages, he added.

 

EE. Pangteang, Minister RD & REPA, Senti Ao (IAS) Secretary DUDA, Kelei Zeliang(IAS) Secretary Rural Development and S. Manlip, President Konyak Union also spoke during the programme.

 

Earlier, The Chief Guest had also inaugurated Angphang Primary Health Centre.

 

Angphang Village is one of the biggest villages in Mon district, the development of Angphang Model Village was taken up by the Department of Under-Developed Areas (DUDA) under Border Area Development Programmed (BADP) with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Border Management, Government of India, during 2008-2011.
