SSA teachers demand inclusion under 7th RoP

Serves 7-day ultimatum to state government

DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (2010 & 2013) has served a 7-day ultimatum with effect from April 23 to the Nagaland Government for inclusion under the 7th Revision of Pay (RoP) in line with regular state employees.

It has demanded the release of their pending salaries from January 2018 till date with the 7th RoP. It has also demanded that their salaries should be paid from the State non-plan budget.

In a press statement on Monday, the Association maintained that they have repeatedly tried to negotiate with the government concerning the grievances faced by the teachers since the time of appointment till date. However, it lamented that the government has shown no positive response nor given any assurance so far.

The Association asserted that the SSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 batches were appointed as regular state employees through advertisement NO.ED/ADMN/1/2009-10 and NO.ED/EXAM/2010-2011 respectively through open recruitment.   It is clearly mentioned in the appointment order that the teachers will be endowed with a scale pay and ‘with all other allowances/rates prescribed by the Government of Nagaland from time to time with effect from the date of joining, the Association claimed.

Furthermore, the SSA teachers appointed in the year 2010 and 2013 through the above mentioned advertisements have been enjoying all other benefits as that of the regular state employees since the date of appointment and along with it, deduction of 10% NPS of the total emolument, GIS and professional tax is also made regularly.

Apart from the irregularity in the payment of the salaries, the teachers have also been deprived of many other privileges that other state employees have been enjoying, such as non inclusion in the seniority list, the post conversion to PGT from Primary and Graduate posts, it said.

Hence, the Association said it would not accept the pending salary without the 7th RoP. In this connection, it has cautioned all the DDOs not to counter sign the pay bill. By doing so, the concerned authority will be held responsible, it added.

The Association cautioned that in the event of failure to address their demands within the given time frame, it would be compelled to initiate democratic means /mode of agitation. The Association has informed all its members to be prepared and be ready to respond to its call at any given time.
