SSSUD questions KLNLF diktat

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 19 (MExN): In view of the recent diktat issued by the Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) restricting movement of overloaded sand laden trucks to Nagaland, allowing a maximum 429 cft sand only on NH-36 and 39, the Sand Stockist & Suppliers Union Dimapur (SSSUD) today asked the KLNLF to clarify whether such restriction were only for sand laden trucks or whether it includes vehicles carrying iron, cement and stones and trailers.

The SSSUD, in a press note stated that if the restriction for overload is not imposed on other kinds of vehicles, then the restriction on sand laden trucks should be lifted immediately. It was informed that the SSSUD and truck owners held an emergency meeting in Dimapur today and discussed about the issue.

The union also noted that the KLNLF has asked Nagaland vehicles to cover the sand with tarpaulin and “questioned why the same has not been asked for vehicles from Assam.”

It informed that the meeting has already imposed temporary bandh on transport of vehicles for three days from September 20 to 22, and asked the KLNLF to clarify within three days, “failing which the union would impose indefinite bandh on transport of sand.”

It further informed local vehicles to “stop bringing sand from Assam, till further notice,” and asked suppliers to bear with the inconveniences.
