St John College conducts awareness programme

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): An awareness programme was conducted at St John College, Dimapur by Daniel Longkumer of Pinnacle Skills on February 26. The brief event highlighted the work of the organization and drew attention to some exciting opportunities that may be relevant to the upcoming graduates, a press release said.

Longkumer in particular, drew attention to the HSBC Skills for Life programme, which is a five year, 100 crore commitment by HSBC India that will focus on employment and entrepreneurship-linked skill development of various groups across India. Under the programme, Pinnacle Skills intend to train 580 Naga youth in sectors like hospitality, IT-ITeS and telecoms. Training shall be free of charge to those applicants selected, with training costs covered by HSBC.

Peter Banks, Administrative Head of the college, in his address also encouraged the students to take time to carefully consider their future as they approach crossroads in their lives. He stated that it is important to formulate plans for their own progression, but also to be open-minded to the unexpected doors that may open. Nagaland has a large number of educated, unemployed youth and such opportunities should not be ignored, Banks said.
