Kohima, August 2 (MExN): The Freshers’ Day 2017 programme for the first semester students of St Joseph University was held on August 2 in the university campus, Ikishe Model Village. Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and Pro-Chancellor of St Joseph University graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Priyo Kumar Singh, the Nominee of the Governor of Nagaland, who is also the Visitor to this university, Dr. Z Kheshito Zhimo, Chairman of Ikishe Village Council and Rev Fr. Dr. J E Arul Raj, founder and Chairman of DMI & MMI Foundation were also present for the function.
While addressing the gathering, Bishop James highlighted the genesis of St Joseph University. He mentioned that St. Joseph University is making a History for a change. He extended his gratitude Fr. Arul Raj, the DMI & MMI foundation and the persons instrumental in the realisation of the University.
Rev Fr. Dr J E Arul Raj, founder and Chairman of DMI & MMI Foundation and the Chancellor of the university addressed the assembly. In his speech, Fr. Dr Arul Raj, pointed out that St. Joseph University would stress more on practical aspects of higher and technical education so as to make every young men and women sustainable.
The Vice Chancellor of SJU Dr. D Gnanadurai presented a broad overview of the University and its curriculum. He highlighted the adoption of the “Choice Based Credit System in St Joseph University Nagaland”.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Charles Mhonthung Ezung, Department of Political Science.
