St Joseph's Church Tseminyu celebrates golden jubilee

TSEMINYU, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The Catholic Community of St Joseph's Church, Tseminyu celebrated its golden jubilee celebration on December 15 under the theme, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit.”

Celebration began with God’s blessings and unveiling of the Jubilee Monolith by Rev Dr James Thoppil Bishop of Kohima and Rev Fr Carolus Neisalhou, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Kohima.

Bishop James offered the Holy Eucharistic celebration. R Khing, Advisor, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Women Resources Development, Government of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.

Bishop James exhorted the gathering to take lessons from the people of Israel, for whom Jubilee was a time for renewal, reparation, restoration, reformation and re-dedication. He reaffirmed that re-dedicating oneself with sincere repentance brought about renewal and resurgence of faith, both as individuals and as a community. He invited the congregation to remember the past with gratitude and live in hope and fervour, disclosed Fr. Victor Renthungo in a press statement.

Speaking on the occasion, R Khing confessed that he felt fortunate to celebrate the Golden Jubilee as he recollected the pioneering leaders who accepted the Catholic faith. He highlighted the hardships caused to the Catholic leaders in the initial stage. He stressed that the small seed has grown up to a golden age symbolizing a mile stone for the community. He emphasized on celebrating with a sense of gratitude to God who has given many blessings for our existence. He highlighted on love, peace and forgiveness to be the criteria of the celebration.

Earlier, Rev Fr Lawrence Khing accorded welcome address to all present for the celebration. The celebration included the holy mass, entrance dance, unveiling of the Jubilee Monolith and presentation of gifts to guests and pioneering missionaries.
