Kohima, December (MExN): St. Teresa Church in Mitelephe Village, Kohima was blessed and dedicated by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima on December 16.
Rev Fr Charles D’ Souza SJ, in his homily, reflected on the writings of St Paul and invited the community to make themselves the living temples by their way of life, stated a press release from the Bishop’s Secretary Rev Fr. Renthungo Victor.
While thanking God for the gift of the church, he said, “We must be more grateful to God for making each of us the living temple by baptism because of which we are called to offer true and genuine sacrifice and worship in spirit and truth with an upright life.”
Commenting on the Gospel passage of the day, where John the Baptist sent his disciples to ask Jesus, whether he is the messiah, Bishop said that Jesus life, words and work which they saw and heard were proof of his identity.
“So also for a Christian the proof of our identity as Christian is our life – a life based on the values Jesus taught us,” the Bishop asserted.
We as Christians must strive to change our not so good situation with a committed Christian life. Thus we will build up the living Church, brick by brick, day by day, and make ourselves the living temple God, where true worship is offered, he exhorted.
Earlier, the service began with the prayers for the blessing of the Church by the Bishop.
