St. Xavier School in Shamator gets new building

Tuensang, February 18 (MExN): The new building of St. Xavier School, Shamator was blessed by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and inaugurated by Limakhumla Pongener, EAC Shamator on February 17 in the presence of Fathers, Sisters from the neighbouring parishes, parents and students.  

“It was a dream come true and a red letter day for the people of Shamator,” Bishop James remarked, according to a press release from his secretary, Fr. Victor Renthungo.   The Bishop further exhorted the gathering to be grateful and supportive to the Fathers and Sisters and those involved in spreading the mission work of education. He also made an appeal to the leaders of Shamator to look forward with cooperation. He further congratulated the Fathers and Sisters and the people.  

The guest of honour Limakhumla in her speech quoted Steve Jobs, “Stay hungry, stay foolish,” to challenge the students to remain hungry for knowledge and to be able to take risk to do something new, the release stated.  

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Tommy, Principal of St. Xavier School accorded the words of welcome. The day was marked with various performances by the students.
