Startup India acceleration provides platform for innovative ideas

Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The finale of the acceleration programme of Startup India Nagaland Yatra was held at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on February 25. Peihauding Team won the ‘Hero of the State’ award in agriculture category and received a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. The award was presented to the best Startup in the state which has the potential to help in the economic growth of the state and infrastructure, stated a DIPR report.

Commissioner & Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Lithrongla G. Chishi while presenting the awards encouraged the young entrepreneurs to remain curious, innovate and make a difference in society. Ketuneikho Yavio& Team won the best Innovative Idea in technology Startup, Limayapang Longkumer& Team won the award in Social Startup. Zenwang Konyak& Team won the best Innovative Idea in agriculture Startup and Wondangla Shitiri & Team (Agriculture) was awarded the Top Women Entrepreneur.

Inorder to promote entrepreneurship in the State, a Startup Cell has been setup with the Directorate of Industries & Commerce as the nodal department. An Intellectual Patent Rights cell has also been set up in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology in 2018 to cater to the needs of Startups with patent rights.

Principal NTTC, Er. Petehetuo Miasalhou, Deputy Director, Department of Information Technology & Communication, Er. Daniel Krocha, Consultant & Entrepreneur Yanpvuo Kikon and Youthnet Director, Hekani Jakhalu were the judges for the finale consisting a total of 30 Startups selected from various colleges.

Startup India Nagaland Yatra was organised by the Department of Industries & Commerce in collaboration with Invest India, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Government of India. The Incubation partners for the Startups include NTTC, SASRD, NIT Nagaland and NIELIT.
