State govt bans use of red beacon light

Kohima, April 26 (DIPR): The Cabinet of the Government of Nagaland has decided to ban the use of Red Beacon Light on all government vehicles in the State of Nagaland with effect from May 1, 2017. Ban on use of Red Light Beacon will apply to Civil, Military Paramilitary, Police Functionaries Officials of Central and State Government Departments, Agencies, Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings. However, Police vehicles escorting VVIPs, VIPs, High Dignitaries will be allowed to use multi-coloured orange, blue and white light already permitted vide Notification dated March 19, 2014. The decision comes in the aftermath of the Union government announcement of a similar ban on April 19 with the aim of putting an end to VIP culture.
