State level training on Climate Change & Global Warming held

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13 (MExN): A two days state level training programme on “Climate Change and Global Warming” was organised by Earth Friendly Generation (EFG), Nagaland and Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi on October 10 and 11 at Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) Conference Hall, Chiephobozou Town, Kohima, Nagaland with Akangmeren Imchen, Scientist ‘B’ from Nagaland Pollution Control Board as the Special Guest.


Addressing the participants, Imchen spoke about the pollution in Nagaland and a media presentation was shown on various pollutions which creates problem in the state. He stated that various dumping sites in the State create landslide and event more pollution when the wastes are burned. Besides, he also encourages the participants to put more importance of eco-friendly products rather than the use of market products which are harmful for the environment and to people’s health. 


He encouraged the participants to never forget their roots and continue with their hard work to create a peaceful environment. He emphasised on the single use plastic in the state which is the biggest and a common threat to aquatic animals.


Vineizo Tsurho, General Secretary of Chiephobozou Town Council in his message spoke about the ozone depletion, which poses high risk for all living things and said that every individual is responsible for the quality of our planet.


Director of Earth Friendly Generation EFG, Keduolhoukho Chadi requested all the participants to support this global move to fight against Climate Change and Global Warming. He emphasised on the purpose of the Earth Friendly Generation and its initiative towards preserving the environment in the state and also set new trends to work on eco-friendly products i.e traditional ways of using leaf plates, leaf cups, leaf bowls etc. 


Rajeev Nirmal, Programe Officer from Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) meanwhile lauded the active participation of different stakeholders to fight against Climate Change and Global.


During the two days state level training programme, Dzüvichüü Chadi and Avinuo Ziephrü from Naga Hub Centre took a session for the participants on how to make plate, cup, bowl using banana leaf. Ongalo and Wawe from The Coming Generation (TCG) also gave training on paper bag making for all the participants.


The event was compered by Dziesezelie Sanchu. A total of 121 participants from government departments, NGOs, CBOs, and SHGs attended the training programme.
