State LSAs conduct various activities

DIMAPUR, January 17 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) organized a legal awareness programme cum Visitation of the Legal Aid Clinic at Zutovi Village on January 16.  

A good number of people from the village led by the Village Vice-chairman and village council members attended the programme, a press release stated.  

Speaking on Welfare Schemes, Panel lawyer, Moatila Ao explained the various schemes provided by the different departments and urged the gathering to make use of the schemes.  

Panel lawyer Visheli Yepthomi spoke on ‘Rights of a Women’ and on ‘Domestic Violence’ and highlighted the rights available for a woman when her rights get violated.  

Panel Lawyer, Zuchumpeni spoke on the topic of Consumer rights where she stated in brief on who a consumer is, and how to complaint and file a case when a consumer is not satisfied with the services provided or when a person make purchases and it turned out to be expired goods. She also explained on how one should stay educated as a consumer.  

Later Ajongba Imchen, Secretary DDLSA and Chief Judicial Magistrate, summed up the programme by encouraging the People of Zutovi to avail services rendered by the Legal Services Authority of Dimapur. He informed that a person's annual income has to be under 1 lakh and other mentioned criterias to avail the LSA’s services.  

Imchen also mentioned about the Legal Services Clinic which was already set up on a previous occasion at the Council Hall premises, on how to utilize and make use of the office by seeking help through Rochill who was appointed as a Para-Legal Volunteer.  

He said that through the PLV one can reach out to DDLSA Panel Lawyers as he acts as the messenger between the people and Panel Lawyers.  

The Secretary also spoke on The Nagaland Village Council Act and encouraged the council members to be fair in delivering justice to people and to be persons with honest concern for its people.  

Panel Lawyer, Kekhriele Mezhii, chaired the programme and highlighted in brief about the free Legal Aid Service and how to avail the services.  

In Zunheboto, the Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA) visited Observation Home and District Jail Zunheboto on January 17.  

During the visit to Observation Home, the ZDLSA members had an interaction with Superintendent Aolem Imsong and Probation Officer, Janet Swu.  

Further, the members also interacted with Officer in Charge Zunheboto Police station, Subordinate officers and Assistant Jailor, Kumsuto Shohe.
