• Extended Mission Indradhanush for Aspirational District discussed

• Updates on Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign preparedness  

Kohima, August 18 (MExN): State Steering Committee meeting for Extended Mission Indradhanush under Gram Swaraj for Aspirational District (Kiphire) and Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign was held on August 16 at the Chief Secretary's Conference hall under the chairmanship of State Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy, IAS.  

DIPR stated in a press release that presenting on EGSA-round 1&2, SOI,UIP said that NITI AAYOG under the extended Mission Indradhanush under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) has identified 115 aspirational in India where Kiphire district has been Identified as aspirational District (AD) and 16 villages have been selected by MoHFW.  

Vaccination sessions would be carried out in the entire districts for three rounds from July to September 2018. She also deliberated on Portal Target-EGSA Village, update on state preparedness, tracking of preparedness at district level, Orientation of Health Workers, E-GSA Target Vs Achievements, target for E-GSA and non-villages and issues and concern. She said that natural calamities have hampered the planned activities-mobility, essential commodities transportation of vaccines and sought support and co-operation for success of the mission.  

Dr. Archana, RRT (WHO) Nagaland gave a presentation on MRVC preparedness. She said that Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccine provides protection from Measles and Rubella will be introduced nationwide through campaign in Schools, Government Hospitals, Health Centres and outreach Sessions. She also said that Children group age of 9 months to less than 15 years should get MR Vaccine shot irrespective of the immunization status for Measles-Rubella (whether Children have been Vaccinated with MMR/MR Vaccine or not.  

She also deliberated on Measles elimination and Rubella Control, Measles, Rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome, Measles-Rubella cases/outbreaks in the state, key facts on MR Vaccine, Target for MR Campaign-India, MRVC-institutional Mechanical, State target, training for MR Vaccine Campaign. She also said that for the success of this Campaign support will be required from teachers, various departments, women and Child Development, Information & Broadcasting for mass involvement. She added that the campaign on MR will start from October 3.  

Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, IAS who chaired the meeting appreciated the Health & Family Welfare Department for successfully carrying out the campaign. He appealed to the departments to reach out the vaccine to people through active participation and assured that the Government will help in all possible ways if required.  

Earlier, opening remark was delivered by Commissioner & Secretary, H&FW and brief update on EGSA was given by Mission Director, NHM.
