Stepping Stones celebrates 2nd annual day

Dimapur, November 29 (MExN): Students of play group, pre-nursery and nursery wowed the gathering of parents, teachers and friends with songs and choreography presentations under the theme “I am special”. Celebrating its second annual day, at the School premises, the students presented an array of performance. Stepping Stones is a creative learning centre for preschool children ages two to five years, and situated at Duncan Bosti, adjacent to Shri. Ramakrishna Society, Dimapur.
A day of joy and fun
Opening the show, a song titled “I am special” was presented by all the students of Stepping Stones. After which polka dance was presented by ‘Little Birdies’ and ‘Little Rowing Boats’. Group songs and rhymes were presented by ‘Little Rowing Boats’, while ‘Little Bubbles’ presented traditional attires. ‘Little Birdies’ also presented an action recitation. A beautiful rendition of Thai dance was also performed by Arada with the help of her parents. The girls of Stepping Stones also performed a kite dance titled “A day in the park’. ‘Little Birdies’ took their audience around the world by dressing up traditional attires representing different countries.
Speaker for the day, Nagaland Social Welfare Board, Secretary, Daisy Mezhur, marveled at the level of confidence the kids from Stepping Stones had displayed in their performances. She complimented the administration and teachers saying that it is not quantity that matter but quality. “This is absolutely wonderful.” She said. Drawing from her own experiences as a mother, Daisy also encouraged young parents to enjoy the time spent with their children and not to look at it as a chore. “These are the times you should take as an opportunity to enjoy with your children,” she said referring to the days programme. I had personally neglected my children since I was busy, and now they have grown up, those moments of their childhood I cannot capture anymore, she shared and then added, “So enjoy your children,”
Akhono, board member of Stepping Stones in her welcome note mentioned that the School has a lot of newer things in store for 2012. She announced that there would be more get together with parents and also a foreign language programme to be introduced in the coming New Year. She also said that Grolier education materials have been a success with the children and the School plans to continue implementing the same.  The annual day celebration concluded with a group song by the children, ‘In Harmony’.
