Success story of Kidima SHGs through NSRLM

Kidima village under Jakhama block, Kohima district is regarded as one of the most successful villages in horticulture cultivation activities. The village has been adopted as a ‘Pure Organic Vegetable Village’ by the state’s horticulture department in 2007.


Vilasenu Weo, Area Coordinator, Block Mission Management Unit, Rural Development, Jakhama said the villagers have been benefited in many ways with the help of Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under Rural development department.


She said Kidima village has 16 Self Help Groups and two VLO, namely Kekhrie VLO and Kezekevi VLO. Two VLOs are continuously nurturing the SHGs in the village.


The villagers benefitted in many ways through agriculture, piggery, poultry and other agri and allied sector. Most of the beneficiaries cultivate various vegetables like tomato, Khuve, chilli, cabbage, beans, potato etc. Every product is purely organic and free from any chemical substances.


Kikropole said under NSRLM-Startup Village Entrepreneur program has helped members of the SHGs in many ways. The beneficiaries cultivate various types of vegetables and earned livelihood through it.


We are thankful to the NSRLM, Jakhama block, Kohima district for giving all necessary guidance and assistance, she said.


Vilevono said with the formation of SHGs, members of various SHGs formed into group and after forming the group the government use to sanction money. The SHGs also use to practice inter-loan among the members and assist one another.
