‘Suicide Squad’ breaks ticket pre-sale record, poised for major opening weekend

Fandango announced today that Suicide Squad has broke their record for advanced tickets sold in the month of August. While they didn’t disclose how many tickets have been sold, Suicide Squad has sold more advanced tickets than other big August movies like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and last year’s Straight Outta Compton.   Earlier tracking numbers predicted a huge $125 million opening weekend for Suicide Squad, and now analyists have increased that number. It’s now on track for a massive $130-140 million opening.   That pretty much confirms that Suicide Squad will be the biggest August opening of all time. The current record is held by Guardians of the Galaxy with $94.3 million.

Suicide Squad premiered at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on August 1, 2016. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on August 5, 2016 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.
