Sumi-Chakhesang strengthen bond through ‘Fraternity Cultural Exchange’

A large number of gathering participates in the ‘1st Fraternity Cultural Exchange’ programme held at Dzulhami village, local ground under Phek district on January 21.
 

Phek, January 22 (MExN): With the aim of strengthening ties of brotherhood among Sumi-Chakhesang community, the three villages of Dzulhami, Kilomi and Khughutomi organized their ‘1st Fraternity Cultural Exchange’ programme at Dzulhami village, local ground under Phek district on January 21.


A press release received here stated that thousands of people from the three villages of Sumi and Chakhesang and also from neighboring villages in their traditional attires attended the programme. The Chakhesang and Sumi Hoho team attended the programme as special invitees.  


Hekhushe Shikhu, President, Sumi Hoho in his speech stated that Sumi and Chakhesang Hoho are doing their best to maintain tranquility among the community. He called upon the peoples to have cordial relationship among the two communities and not to break the relationship of brotherhood because of individual interest or small issues.


“Culture is our identity. We should preserve and keep it. We should never forget our forefather cultural activities and we should keep it alive and pass it on to our generation,” he stated while adding that organizing this type of programme among the two communities “is very advantageous for the upcoming generation and urged them not to break the chain of connection.”


Mikha Kenye, President, Chakhesang Public Organizing in his greeting said that the celebration of fraternity cultural exchange is a significance landmark. “The Sumi brothers and Chakhesang share many similarities in our traits, we all should promote our true brotherhood spirit wherever we are,” he stated. 


He called upon the Sumi and Chakhesang brothers to remain true to each other in the spirit of brotherhood and resolve the any issue that remain unsolved. “Let us all take things positively, learn to understand each other, building and nurturing our brotherhood through this kind of programme,” he added.


Kenye also called upon the people to spread the message of fraternity with members of other communities and contribute towards building unity and harmony amongst the Nagas. He hoped that through the fraternal cultural exchange of the three villages will serve to promote unity. 


Short speeches and exhortation was delivered by Zachilhu Vadeo, Ex Minister, Nagaland; N Phuhoi Swu, VCC, Kilomi and Kihovi Swu, GB, Khughutomi.


During the celebration, the gathering decided to organize the next ‘Fraternity Cultural Exchange’ at Kilomi-Khughutomi villages during Ahuna festival in 2023. They also declared to celebrate every after three years, during ‘Sekrenyi’ and ‘Ahuna’ festival to ensure connection among the people in order to achieve peace, love and to keep the spirit of brotherhood alive.


The programme was chaired by Razukhru Vasa, DPO, DRDA, Phek; invocation by Rev Riwhusuh Ringa, Pastor, UBC, BSF camp, Kohima; welcome speech by Mudonyi Shijo, VCC, Dzulhami; vote of thanks by Zalhuzu Vasa and benediction by Thupuruso, Pastor, Dzulhami Baptist Church.
