Sumi villages under Wokha denied schemes

Since the year 2013 till date, 12 recognized Sumi villages under Wokha district have been denied schemes and subsidy from the Department of Horticulture that are both central and state sponsored. This information was revealed through RTI response documents submitted to The Morung Express by the applicant from Mithehe village under Wokha district. The applicant had sought information regarding any schemes and subsidy that may have been provided by the Department of Horticulture to Sumi villages under Wokha district since 2013. The documents showed a host of available schemes and subsidy under the Department some of which are Area Expansion/Rejuvenation/Canopy Management Programme/Creation of Water Resources, Organic Farming, Vegetables, 2nd & 3rd Year Maintenance Programme of HMNEH, Cashew nut, Coconut plantation, Flowers, Pollination support through Bee-keeping, Spices, Protected Cultivation etc. The remarks against all such schemes and subsidy were shown as “Nil.” The RTI applicant, on behalf of the Sumi villages, has appealed the Department to look into the matter and facilitate schemes and subsidy to the denied beneficiaries.
