Susan George opens her heart for the first time since husband death

For the first time since her husband, actor Simon MacCorkindale, passed away, Susan George opened up to HELLO! about losing him after a five year battle with cancer. Simon's tragic death in October took place days after their 26th wedding anniversary, as he died in her arms, the end of a marriage that was near perfect.
"Simon and I had a love most people only dream about, I feel I'm the luckiest person on Earth to have shared 26 years with him. He was, for me, a one-in-a-million husband; there will never be another Simon," she said.  She revealed that they never gave up, right up until the very last minute, and had faith that he would recover, as they explored every possible cure for the cancer. "We were determined and totally believed that he would get better. We did everything."
Though Simon would go through periods of being extremely ill, Susan says he always wanted to live the same life he had lead before his illness, and to be treated the same. "He never wanted anyone to feel sorry for him. He just wanted to lead a normal life and be himself"
At her home in Exmoor, surrounded by her dogs and horses, Susan, 60, occupies her time with new projects, continuing the dreams and ambitions she and Simon once shared. "I know Simon would have wanted nothing more in the world than for me to laugh, be happy, get on with my life and continue to make him proud".
